Elizabeth Arden Prevage Clinical Lash

Prevage Clinical Lash and Brow Enhancing Serum, a product by Elizabeth Arden, is believed to deliver longer and more beautiful looking lashes and brows in 14 days.

Elizabeth Arden is a popular name for those looking into health and beauty products. After conducting research into the Prevage Clinical Lash product, I found the reviews to be a mix of stellar 5-star ratings and much lower ratings.

While the actual number pertaining to consumer reviews is low, the general consensus for Prevage ranges from average to excellent.

The Key Ingredients for Prevage Clinical Lash

I have obtained an ingredient list regarding Prevage, and I have researched the most notable components in the product. While the materials list is extensive, I am reviewing those which are believed to be active ingredients.

Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16

The main focus regarding Prevage is the “triple peptide complex” which is believed to be related to the natural renewal cycle for the eyelash. Myristoyl Hexapeptide-16 is the first in this peptide compound found in many cosmetic products. This composition is believed to be a skin-conditioning product. [1]
It is suggested myristoylated peptides assist in cell signaling and membrane formation which may promote growth for eyelashes when combined with other elements. [2]

Myristoyl Octapeptide-1. Myristoyl Octapeptide-1 is believed to be another skin-conditioning solution used in various wrinkle creams as well as other skin care products. [3]

Most studies for myristoyl octapeptide-1 referred to protein strand development. [4]

It is believed this compound may assist in the protein developments for hair follicles developing a stronger and healthier base.

Myristoyl Pentapeptide-17

Although many believe myristoyl pentapeptide-17 assists in hair follicle growth, I was unable to find valid scientific evidence to support the claim. Other brands describe studies regarding this compound as an eyelash enhancer, but don’t provide the details regarding the study.

In reality, this compound may act similar to the other peptides within the ingredients list save for the fact it contains 5 amino acids. [5]

However, amino acids themselves are used to enhance hair follicles and repair damaged areas. [6]

Panthenol

Panthenol is used in many beauty products including skin creams. The compound was proven to increase skin moisture and reduce irritations. [7]

While this may provide a protection from irritations within Prevage Clinical Lash, there is no scientific evidence to support eyelash enhancement.

Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract. This component is derived from the “green tea” plant, Camellia Sinensis. It is used as an antioxidant, skin conditioner and UV light absorber in various products. [8]

As UV rays may be damaging to hair follicles, including this compound within Prevage may be related.

Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract

The cucumber is used in a wide range of cosmetic techniques and products. While cucumis sativus fruit extract contains anti-oxidants, I am unable to locate scientific evidence regarding why it may be used in an eyelash product. [9]

Because cucumber moisturizes the skin, it may be used to stimulate the eyelash base to promote growth and health.

Does Prevage Really Work as Intended?

The mixed reviews from previous consumers makes it difficult to ascertain whether the product may work for you. Although the scientific evidence is lacking support as an eyelash enhancer, there is reason to believe Prevage may be beneficial due to the peptides included in the product.

How Do You Use Prevage?

After washing away any makeup and debris from your eyes, you apply the product before going to bed each night. For both upper and lower lashes, you are to apply Prevage along the lash line from one side of your eyelid to the other. When used on your eyebrows, you apply Prevage with short strokes to the areas you desire.

Are there Risks to Using Prevage?

While peptides are usually safe and included in many successful beauty products, some people have claimed problems while using this product. The chemical composition regarding Prevage should prevent minor irritations by moisturizing the affected area.

However, each person’s physiology and allergic reactions differ. As mentioned earlier, the reviews for this product are mixed as some have experienced great success while others felt disappointed.

In my research, I wasn’t able to link scientific evidence to support toxicity levels or overly dangerous compounds within Prevage.

How Much Does Prevage Cost on Average?

As each retailer differs in pricing, you may spend as little as $53 on auction sites or as much as $100 at various name brand stores. The Elizabeth Arden Prevage Clinical Lash and Brow Enhancing Serum is available in many top retail locations.

Is Prevage Right for Me?

Although the product does provide promising aspects, the overall ratings varied. As this and similar products may be expensive to some consumers, you may need more evidence than merely the promises from a manufacturer.

While peptides are connected to protein building, membrane reinforcement and enhancement, the addition into eyelash products doesn’t have enough scientific evidence to support claims for actual hair growth.

However, there is potential for success due to the nature of the components included in the product, specifically the peptides and moisturizing ingredients.
